Wow! Thanks for taking the time to reply. :) Sorry, I did go a bit far. I'd forgotten that 'delete' is the only way to remove items from an array in Javascript, which you need to do all the time. x_x I just found another example: in a chat

Very comprehensive article, but if you have to delete properties, you're almost certainly coding wrong. Set the property to false, or null, or a null object. Deleting properties also messes with the psuedo-class optimizations in V8.

Hit the 'flag' link. If enough people do that, it'll be killed automatically, without need for any mods.

What's the reasoning behind that? Do they want to intercept all communications, and encryption would get in the way of that?

This is why I install Chrome on my family's computers. Set it and forget it - auto silent background update means they'll always have a current browser.

Good article, but it seems to ignore the elephant in the room: the JVM's cold start times. For me, git's use case is being called from the command line, often interactively, between code editing sessions. It needs to start fast and finish f

I don't think it maintains all the memory of closed programs - the data/stack areas of memory will differ hugely between when a program is closed and when a program is launched. If you did save all these areas of memory, the program's state

Right click on a tab, and select "Pin tab". It collapses the tab to just a favicon, and persists it across sessions.

equals(Object o) has a very tricky contract to implement, when you add subclassing to the mix. Auto-generated code won't make those problems go away. See http://www.artima.com/lejava/articles/equality.html

Your family probably doesn't need a debugger. Get them onto Chrome. They'll love the new UI, and it'll silently auto-update so you won't have to upgrade it again.

Interesting that it uses class-based inheritance in JavaScript. I wonder what this would look like, if it were done with prototypes.
