Agreed. There are some pretty cool platforms in the last 5 years to streamline this process, too.

Right. That's not a novel idea, and this is a well-trod area of concern. That's why these FTC rules have been around for many years. edit: to be clear, I am saying that in the absence of clear disclosures, that would run afoul of

This isn't a realistic concern unless FTC rules changed substantially from where they are today (see my other comment on this post for links). Sponsored link disclosures would be in place. Everything else aside, it's simply not wo

I'm not aware of any FTC rule that would preempt this sort of product as long as it met the endorsement disclosure rules (16 CFR Part 255), same as paid influencers do today. What are you imagining they run afoul of? https://

I have watched reddit become useless for any kind of nuanced debate over the last 5 years. It's rather sad to me, because once upon a time I learned a lot about others views - especially ones I disagree with. Even HN is much less welco

That depends entirely on what you're doing in that dim lighting. And how much time you spend in it. Spending all of your time in dim lighting is absolutely bad for your vision, or at least that is the contemporary consensus in opto

I just want to apologize if my amusement about the Gemini comment below the article played some part in kicking off this absurd off-topic witch hunt. I don't see anything wrong with using AI in the way you did.

I'm not so sure that's an accurate diagnosis. But I agree it's certainly better than one can get from phoning support.

I was merely pretty sure that the comment was AI generated as I read it. After reading it, I became a lot more confident when I noticed the username above the comment: Gemini 3 . Is this a Wordpress plugin the blog author is using?

Not sure, but I'd be surprised if there's not a third party company that retains them all the way there is for broadcast TV.

That would be really fun. Unfortunately, I'd be surprised if the recordings still exist from the pre-"it's all digital" era, which is more recent than most people would think.

That's very cool, but I lack the 500+ total edits on Wikipedia to qualify. My first edit was 20 years ago this month and at my current pace I'll be able to access that in another 588 years. Is there some other way to pay [Wikipedi

Reading mainstream coverage of tech is certainly what made me lose confidence in much of their other reporting. Back when tech was this niche thing 20+ years ago, media's illiteracy on the matter was forgivable. Now that it's omni

Book Uber Black and 99% of those issues go away. Have taken more Ubers than I'd like to admit, so I'm comfortable calling this a large enough sample size to qualify as anecdata.
