Small split evaporative coolers can provide AC to a room and run on a single panel. Easy to make too.

That's like an instant infusion of billions of dollars, since gainting that experience and education was paid for by the donor society. So they would almost certainly do better.

Every time I read about genetics I wonder "How can this work?! Why don't we have cancer all the time?". Then I remember we do have cancer all the time, our immune system is just pretty good at catching it before it becomes

Won't the oil seep into plastic parts and damage them? How about the glass getting greasy? My mill gets fairly icky just from metal and wood chips, I don't want to imagine what street goo + oil would be like.

Discord is a walled garden and is not searchable, so knowledge posted there is lost very quickly and is super hard to discover. Static HTML has its limits, but has much better longevity.

It's work and we need to re-establish a true net of websites, webrings and all the other forgotten stuff that was made obsolete by search engines. Here's my contribution: https://mglz.de/links.html

It's not the West as a whole, it's a specific group of MBA-types which hijacked many institutions. We know where the problem is coming from. We have enough people who want to do stuff like building planes properly. The next step i

At which point did the MBAs convince us they are suited for more than bookkeeping? Medicine, engineering, architecture and many other things have been slaved to economics and this is presented as the natural order of things. Why?

My crackpot theory: This is in part due to CAD: * Colors other than gray don't look nice in CAD and aren't the default. * It's super easy to just stack a bunch of rectangles (looking at you, architects...) * You can chamfer a

*Thank you* So much hearsay from people who never really used an EV. Yes, there are drawbacks. But except for extreme long range trips EVs are perfectly usable while being more energy efficient and less prone to breaking down.
