I'm tired of hearing this "we have no margins". You still hold a monopoly-like position in many areas simply because... people have to eat. I can buy a car once every few years. I can rent or buy a house. I can't ren

Amen. You want to come in to my business and give me money? Upgrade your phone! Then scroll through a 4" version of the 18" menu we scanned in and then threw away.

maybe heroku and fly and others could start shelling books and shoes to help out... it's been 12 years, but they had a decade of other business units helping to fund their service, and can afford loss leaders like few other businesses.

Sounds pretty clear and clean to me. Shame we couldn't have gotten as nice a recording of the Beatles at the Star Club just bit earlier :) FWIW, it's a nice live album, but doesn't strike me as one of the great live albums o

I set up something for someone in 2003/2004. It was largely PHP4 code that got a bit upgraded to 5.0. We lost touch. I got a call at end of 2017 saying "this isn't working". Someone else had taken over hosting and bee

Yes, it was partially an answer, and it's not saying Python isn't high up. But still wanted to know by what metrics the GP was making their claim.

Your comment in PHP src here https://github.com/shish/rosettaboy/blob/master/php/run.sh says # opcache in 8.1 gives a nice speedup (25s to 10s) Is the 23.7 seconds above using the 8.1 opcache?

100% not shocked at all. I recall a couple of times over the past 15-20 years where a current python significantly outperformed a current php version, but my recollection is that php was usually a bit faster, or sometimes a lot faster. PHP

I think my HS GPA was... 2.9 or perhaps 3 (out of 4), yet I had a 29 on the ACT. The ACT score was in the 80s before some scoring model change. It's probably changed multiple times since then, but I'd learned there was a model ch

I was having to deal with token ring in '96-'97, and have not touched it since. Seems like it went away quite quickly. Cue up someone replying that they're still maintaining a token ring system in 2022... :)

I got an Apple Watch in mid 2021. I was a casual runner before then. By the first week, I was watching the 3 rings on the watch, and by the second week I had a streak going. I hit my rings every day for a week. Then 2. Then 3. The only
