Hardly surprising. JPEG is a very mature technology with deep support and optimizations going all the way to hardware support built into many (most?) cpus. If the real world savings are ~ 20%, it probably won't be worth it.

They already anticipate maximum violence and chaos, I don't think they fear non-prepped mobs hunting them based on an old news article from the non-existent internet. I am not a prepper, but I get the allure. I just need the money :)

These guys (and Women?) are at the extreme end of the economic and social hierarchy. The only thing that might endanger their position is if society collapses. Prepping is sort of an insurance policy against the long odds of society collaps

Balancing safety vs progress is tricky. Additionally, people's perception of risk is also really bad so the resulting choices are sub-optimal.

I work on a telemedicine product using Google Glass Enterprise and the current version of our product was shaped greatly from feedback provided by one early user (physician). It really focused our use cases and made the product much better.

Right, I think the most common atheist is the agnostic or 'weak' position. Like Bertrand Russell's celestial teapot, a God is possible but the burden of proof is on proving God exists. https://en.wikipedia.org/

I am not sure why I got downvoted. Mark is the oldest of the Gospels. The others, especially Matthew and Luke are just derivative works. They are anonymous embellishments of anonymous writing that was never meant as historical record. They

Richard Carrier has made a decent case against a historical Jesus, but I'm not a scholar. On the other side, Bart D. Ehrman is an atheist who backs a historical Jesus. If he was based on a real person, The Jesus we know is like a Holly

The article makes some good points, but why do I get the feeling like this is a postmodern attack on science? If you dismiss the data, you can dismiss any conclusions drawn from it.

Make sure and test the copies. I used to do bulk copies years ago and the media + writing speed would make a difference. Writing at full speed would technically work, but the disks were sometimes unreadable in some readers. 'Back in my

Procrastination has benefits. I am not sure it's a net gain, but I will tell you it's paid off more then I would be comfortable admitting (over 20+ years).

Low latency video streaming in the browser is a mess. it's WebRTC or [insert hack]. WebRTC is kind of a single-purpose black box, so it's difficult to deal with. I Would love to know more about how people are solving this problem

Trying not be acerbic but, an article on divorce that doesn't even mention children? Ridiculous and puerile. A divorce without children is a walk in the park. You can sign a few papers, say goodbye, and _never_ have to see that person
