If that's true, making non-technical people conduct technical interviews is also a pretty big failure.

Only if you have to. Not all processors come with a MMU. Using an OS is not always necessary. There are size thresholds for which a MMU makes sense - so memory management does not always imply a memory hierarchy which requires a MMU. Maybe

Because if the engine only examined each character at most once, then it would not be a backtracking RE engine.

Both lock-free and wait-free algorithms/implementations offer the same advantage, as a corollary of their definition: latency guarantees. These are central to real-time systems. PS. The difference is that lock-free algorithms improve t

So you are disappointed some random language isn't more like what you imagined. Great. Here's to hoping you don't go about your day with the same attitude.

Why are we throwing away all the work done on static & dynamic analysis tools for C programs in this kind of discussions? Programmers are crippled just for picking C? Come on..

I don't know, njloof. Why don't banks track cash deposits? Should we track cash deposits? Why do we track phone calls and IP traffic? Should we track phone calls and IP traffic?

No language makes it the least bit difficult to write bad code. This is not an argument in favour or against _any_ language.

Teaching responsibility is mandatory in all CS PhD programs I'm aware of. The pressure is not as bad as other areas, but the deadlines can get very stressful, circumstantially I suppose. The flexibility doesn't really exist: when

I don't see the sort of vetting you claim has happened. Wright's proof is fraudulent ( https://dankaminsky.com/2016/05/02/validating-satoshi-or-not... ), people proved this in less than a day. Your jo

This discussion won't get very far if all you think arrays are is syntactic sugar. The array type is useful - think in terms of a static analyser if it helps - in different ways than pointers.
