It's pretty straightforward, knowing when to use the stack vs heap can improve your performance. Having both paradigms available in the language means you can start out relying on the GC for everything. Later when you're ready, yo

You mean like this? https://bellard.org/jslinux/vm.html?url=alpine-x86.cfg&mem=1... I don't think it's running in WASM, but I think it's linux in your browser.

I pretty much grew up on Windows. I don't hate it or MS, but over time it was clear, their interests and mine were diverging.

Agree, for the average end-user switching is still difficult. I do think for some of the more technically oriented ones (some gamers, etc...) it may be possible.

True, it's an uphill battle, particularly with any kind of specialized HW, but I'm all in now.

Microsoft, if you're listening; Ads in Windows, is what pushed me to leave. I have no intention of ever returning. Ads in the tools that I use for my work are unacceptable.

It would seem that many other folks in this thread disagree that Uber's service in the area you referenced is worse. I've never been to the UK, so I can't offer an opinion.

You're sample is simply not representative. If we could go back in time to 5 years before Uber's founding, I could show you the taxi system on the entire west coast of the US was non-functional, from San Diego to Seattle, service,

I really liked this write-up and I'm getting curious about Ada, after completely ignoring it for a very long time. My impression of the Fyne toolkit was similar to the authors. Overall I'm disappointed in Go's gui situation.

I'm an older runner (50+), live in LA. I feel in some sense this story might be near to me, but it might as well be in a parallel universe. I never run in organized events. I specifically run by myself, so I can enjoy my time, free fro

I think the really great thing you did here, was just lay it out. So little is said/shown on this topic that it's really valuable to just get people conscious of their own process, so that they can compare and contrast.
