Well we know that now, they wouldn't know whats behind the ocean back then. Remember the idea that the earth was flat? At the moment we are at a point in time where we cant see the end of space but there might be another "ocean&qu

This is probably the most important book I have read in my entire life. The book started out talking about how to teach children programming but for me it was more an adventure into how adults minds work and how computers can be powerful to

I'm sure back a few hundred years, sailors would have claimed that the other side of the ocean is the final frontier. Seems like just a way of looking at it to entice people into believing in a cause.

They really went out of their way to try and rip of Github, it seems like a lot of sites now would rather copy it because developers are used to the design.

Why is everything always the final frontier? Its kind of depressing that they said that space is the FINAL frontier. Does that mean we have nothing to aspire to after that? Now apparently the new "final frontier" is lettuce.

I'm still working away on http://des.sk which is my little project to bring contacts, tasks, documents, calendar and email all into a single place. I love doing little experiments with all the features too, like sortable li

The first thing to think about is most "great" programmers wouldn't call themselves so, they always feel like they can get better. I feel that I'm good but nowhere near great, I have a comfortable job in a Sydney based s

When I download the library, none of the examples work because the jquery files are named incorrectly. Pretty frustrating to have to change this before I can see anything

Do you really think this is relevant for HN?

Seems like its time to upgrade your own stack. Getting some 503 errors on some pages.

I had this stroke of insight while watching my mother trying to open a pdf from outlook.com Firstly, what percentage of the population knows (or cares) what PDF even means? All they want is to read whats attached and do what they need to wi

For starters, you're using the font awesome gift icon. Theres not really much thought in the UX at all. Invest a few hundred dollars in a 99 designs contest and you might be able to remove the bootstrap stigma and stop your website looking

No its not possible, you have to use a flash plugin to do something like this. Check out ZeroClipboard, it works great for my projects

If we were created like this, wouldn't it be feasible to say that the creators could just patch this up so the experiment will appear to work but is indeed, rigged.

Theres a few good tutorials on www.google.com on how to do this kind of thing. Maybe you should post something up there.

You should try out 99designs.com, I have gotten quite good results from them in the past and they're not bad. Also, you shouldn't be posting this on HN, its not news.

They use an api called libgit to interface with all the repos that you can find here https://github.com/libgit2/libgit2

Im not sure how this could be easier than doing it manually. The interface is kind of confusing and unnatural.

The most inspiring of all programming videos would be this one by Bret Victor. The talk is called 'Inventing on principle' and changed my perception of how I think about and create software forever http://vimeo.com/36579366
