It's worth noting that if you want to fully leverage the scalability of S3, using your domain registrar's HTTP 302 service (using a "URL Redirect" feature at your domain registrar) is likely a bad idea. ismytwitterpasswordsecure.com resolve

So where do I buy a chinese knockoff version of this that I can run Debian on? It's a very exciting hardware notion, and I'd love to hack around with some software on it.

Here's a usability enhancement: make sure you're overriding the behaviour of an <a> element which would already cause the page to scroll back up, e.g. a link to a named anchor at the top of the page or to the ID of the <html>

Please allow the user to disable sending / viewing HTML mail. This is the number one bug with Apple's built in iOS mail client, imo. It drives me nuts.

Yeah I just noticed. When I wrote this I lived a substantial distance from the ocean, however now running it against my current address (which is across the road from a marina) it advises I ought to take a ferry sometimes. Not sure what I c

You're right, "utter failure" might be taking things too far. "Consider the target audience of this. It'll be more technically inclined people. It's again safe to assume these people will mostly have JS enabled." I disagree with that sentim

I wrote this random walk generator a while ago: http://hotplate.co.nz/files/walk/ I should publish the code properly at some point, but it's all client side and not very complex, so if anyone wants to run their own local copy that is fine

Is this in some way different to Apple's normal open source offerings? By which I mean, is there something new or interesting hidden on this page that I'm missing? :)

"Further, the image file as well as its metadata would be backed up to your own little piece on the cloud" Doesn't seem like much of a backup to me... I'd hope at the very least that even if there isn't a local storage option they would bui

Boing Boing at least have fixed this. Even though the page still scrolls forever, at the bottom of each "segment" the "Older Entries" link no longer disappears when the additional content loads, allowing for optional pagination :)

Much bigger sin: Boing Boing style "endlessly load more content with Javascript" nonsense. If you're browsing on an (arguably flawed in its implementation) iOS device where page state gets unexpectedly dumped all the time (e.g, tab switchin

Here's an idea: The moment the device is no longer supported, unlock the bootloader. If you really felt philanthropic, release some docs on the hardware interfaces. This way Linux / *BSD / Haiku / whatever could be ported and extend the usa
