Reverse engineering the format is necessary to make an open source toolchain, so I disagree. But you are right that an open source toolchain probably won't handle the primitives very well, so we're stuck with the vendor-specific t

Nice, I actually looked for it in December but it wasn't there yet. Looks like I just missed the boat.

I think he describes a procedure which guarantees that the last digit of the representation is exact. So that we (in decimal) can have 3.14 as a representation for pi, but never 3.13 or 3.15. But this is hardly 'solving floating point

The i.MX6 CPU is, by the way, the CPU that is used in the opensource Novena laptop. Apparently it is a reasonably powerful processor, but more importantly, it doesn't require an NDA to access the datasheet. I am not sure how things wil

You might be a bit careful with criticizing the US on Hacker News, I have been permanently banned for similar remarks. That aside, a large part of it seems to be culture. If you're living in a university-owned dorm, it is often mandato

I object to pointing to 'added sugars' as the bad guys. Your body processes added sugar and natural sugar in the same way. Fruits contain vitamins, but they are also high in sugar. So the amazing changes people report might just a
