It looks interesting but to my knowledge it still hasn't been publicly released. There still isn't a lean systems-programming Smalltalk around which is a shame. Since I like Smalltalk and I also happen to do some of the things the

I get the feeling that you are easily dismissing my points without having personally experienced the languages and ways of working I'm referring to. If that's true, then we can only agree to disagree as the only way for you to rea

How about all of the following: Python GIL takes away lots of viable solutions. Lack of metaprogramming / code generation at runtime. Lack of performance forcing me to severely compromise or implement things in C. Type system is probab

My criticism is mostly aimed at the language (and its standard library) itself. The major projects I worked on, I architected from the beginning. It is when designing and architecting reliable systems that Python's terrible nature hits

Same here. I've used Python daily or almost daily for the last ~10 years (thankfully I've used other languages too). I've architected reliable systems on top of it but it was obvious to me almost from the get-go that Python i

I find that the first two points (Use Libraries and Write Libraries) in the way they’re presented conflict with each other and they also go against my personal experience, at least when it comes to robust code. First, using libraries is gre

This forms part of what Alan Kay calls “late binding” [see link below] and describes as part of what makes Lisp and Smalltalk great, which is something of a lost art today, mainly because most contemporary programming languages (the usual s

The Vampire is FPGA-based which means they are emulating the chipset (AGA in the works) and the CPU (they came up with their own version of m68k and named it 68080). It’s impressive but it’s not a traditional Amiga. It also has compatibilit

Not necessarily, FPGA cores are not faithful reproductions of the Amiga custom chips. I think the main premise here is that the Amiga custom chips can, with proper care, last for a lifetime or more, but the Amiga PCBs (some of which are 30+

There are many ways but the one I chose is in my presentation that I linked above. Roughly, first you get an idea of the system calls involved when a DLL is loaded. Then you hook the system calls that are responsible for mapping/readin

One way is to use the Windows library loader and simply trick it to load a DLL from memory rather than disk. If you use a method that completely bypasses the OS loader, then you have to do a lot more work to have your DLL behave like a DLL
