A 7nm part won't be manufacturable outside TSMC or Samsung for years more, so this tech is really dependent on good relations with Taiwan or South Korea.

There is a lot of hate from TERFs and religious groups towards the non-straight/non-cis community. I think the corporatization of pride parades (like this article advocates for) is both harmful and helpful, insofar as its a positive fo

Eh, Boeing has huge scale, but they havw a worse version of Amazon's recruiting problem. Terrible work environment for most employees (unless you like knuckledragger drivel), poor quality work by other teams being swept under the rug b

I thought most seatbacks ran Linux? For more critical applications, Boeing is using Ada on Linux atop AMD's new embedded CPUs, which have no closed firmware (to ensure auditability). Sadly, Boeings culture rot has led to some poor desi

I don't see any advantage of using Monzo over BECU (seems you've got fewer features). What is the value pitch here? The US market is a fair bit different than the UK, there are a plethora of banks and credit unions to choose from.

Doubtful, Apple seems to want to keep iMessage as an iOS/MacOS exclusive as part of their moat to bring people into the full ecosystem. iCloud was accessible through the web browser before this app was available.

WebKit/Blink is a mixed LGPL/BSD licensed project, with KHTML and other KDE developed parts being LGPL. Google likely can't keep most of their patches stripping support secret.

Silence is not consent, its a basic rule in the photography class I took. Microsoft seems to be going by the legal minimums, getting a dataset skewed by whoever is employed in that building (likely not terribly diverse).

Sure, but China has a less competent industrial espionage than Israel, who has failed to steal the secrets of TSMC's or Samsungs processes for Intel (leaving them trapped on 14nm with a really broken 10nm node in development). As it tu

Zen 2 is designed for a 7nm process, which limits its production to TSMC or Samsung. There is nowhere to build AMD's newer chips in China (unlike 14nm Ryzen), stopping them from using the tariff bypass they did through this JV. This la

The cellular network being totally insecure is much worse than passive surveillance. Calls and texts can be rerouted and altered in transit, and mobile identities (eg: your SIM) can be impersonated on a whim.

Huawei has no 7nm fab available that will turn a blind eye to pirate ARM chips (since their ARM license was revoked), and it is unlikely any new 7nm fabs will be built in China soon. See my other comment: https://news.ycombinator
