Yeah, sure...from § 11.13.2 of TFM[1]: > In OpenVMS Version 7.1, the DCL PIPE command was introduced. Ask me how I really know OpenVMS v6 doesn't have pipes. [1] http://h30266.www3.hpe.com/odl/axpos/ops

Pipes wasn't a thing until v7.something or other. A bunch of lexical functions weren't implemented until then too.

In uni, I learned digital logic from Brown and Vranesic[1] who explicitly differentiate gated latches from flip-flops, the latter being defined as: > A flip-flop is a storage element based on the gated latch principle, which can have i

Almost. It's a gated D latch, which is level sensitive and behaves asynchronously, as opposed to a D flip flop, which is an edge sensitive primitive.

I'll be the first to admit that I hastily presumed you were conflating the control theory PID acronym with "process ID", then I looked at the code and had a genuine WT-actual-glorious-F moment.

As a more practical usecase, how many other EEs have leveraged circles-in-a-circle packing tables such as [1] to approximate cable diameter and/or size conduit? Would be interesting to learn how other disciplines have applied such a to
