I like how this explains the details. One can easily dismiss use of this kind of stringly typed construct, but once you see how abstraction enables optimizations in implementation, it's kind of win-win.

I would assume real number is much higher. Games have for decades used generation as source for content, now available methods are just more complex.

Video quality seems really good, but limitations are quite restrictive "Our model encounters challenges when processing extremely long videos (e.g. 200 frames or more)". I'd say most videos in practice are longer than 200 fra

I understood article saying that implicit invariants are like undocumented choices. If I have blog where blogposts have maximum length of 4096 bytes. But why would there be such limit, is it creative decision? is there technical limitation?

So as robots became more capable and less contained (like current industrial robot arms). What novel tools/techniques there are to stop misbehaving robot? Will casting a net stop robot like this or do you have to somehow dismember it?

Marketing scripts often are invasive, wanting to run before all other scripts or overriding event/clickhandlers. For me it kind of feels you need some runtime and DSL to enable all requirements in web. And Google Tag Manager isn't

You can also start from classic problems: Dining philosophers, Byzantine Generals, CAP theorem etc. then go towards more concrete examples and implementations.

I think you need to parse the code and build AST to make good search. Even then normalizing over different aliases, may not be simple.

Reading this I was wondering how far are video compression (with transformers), turns out decoding is still too expensive in practice (under 10 FPS for 1080p video). https://arxiv.org/abs/2206.07307 https://

You can also handle optionality when using the value. function maybeRenderBestFriends() { const user = maybeGetUser(); if (!user) { return null } const friends = maybeGetFriends(user); const bestFriends = frien

When I was younger I used to think I need to have children in order to understand parents and belong socially when almost everyone else has had children. I think there is some truth to that, parents don't become non-parents even after

Person can wallow in their thoughts, but when they engage in conversation, I'd expect them to want something else than just their words repeated back.

People reading articles from RSS are not using Google search or Google browser, not being monetized by Google Ads. There is a reason.

Does this technique have shelf life? Like glue degrades and then even non-counterfeit product becomes invalid?

Yes, I cannot imagine how anyone could know all the details that go into each step. It's good to have people that do know how computers operate and how we use them, but specialization is also good thing.

So given that minimum size of HTTP request is something under 32 bytes, some sources say 18 bytes but let's be generous here HTTP can be complex. In theory I could send 4M requests in second with 1 Gbps connection. 1 Tbps total connect

Unless client combines decompress and CSS parsing, they would at least allocate memory for the whitespace before parsing and then skipping them. It might be better to have slightly bigger payload on the wire to save time after decompress.

While I'm happy Figma exposes layout as CSS rules, one does not copy paste styles directly into project. There is still disconnect how to interpt the layout from lower level back to structural abstractions. Like margin of 24px may actu

I think LLMs are great for exploration, but for repeated use efficiency matters and data structures matter. I can see that AI will compose UI and write reporting code for many analytical querying needs, but I can't imagine future where
