Our current system is completely fueled by legalized price gouging. It's insane how much the medical industry is allowed to exploit these regulations.

Strange but mine doesn't scroll UNLESS I move the mouse. I wonder if this is because I have the "Adjust for best performance" option set?

It's shocking to me that more people aren't aware of this fundamental concept when democracy is discussed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyranny_of_the_majority

I know nothing about the capabilities of Superhuman but with other clients (e.g. Outlook) I can circumvent (most?) tracking by disabling automatic downloading external content.

Yes. How many people do you need in a room to be confident that one of them has the same birthday as you?

This is a fantastic analogy. With so many sources available--mainstream and other--we now have opportunities to get a holistic picture by relying on many different narratives. However, technology also makes it easier for people to seek out

I must strongly disagree with this. Diet Coke has a very aspartame-y taste but Coke Zero is incredibly close to original Coke with 0 sugar. The trade-off of Coke Zero vs. regular Coke to me seems like a no-brainer!

Stop trying to blame consumers--consumer products only make up ~10% of plastics[1]. [1] http://theconversation.com/the-world-of-plastics-in-numbers-... , https://advances.sciencemag.org/content/3/7&

While I would also prefer this, I also wonder if a 5-hour/7 day week would lead to more productivity and a better work-life balance. This would definitely require more strict work hours and would necessitate more remote work to reduce

And streams of refugees? Surely they're not feeling from their war-torn home nations. This post is sensationalism and part of the reason why people don't take climate alarmists seriously.

I may be wrong but I don't think that last statement is true if the lifetime of the customer/asset is short--especially shorter than expected. The business model seems too new and for me it hasn't proven itself viable.

I don't see what makes this scenario "more likely". You're still confusing correlation with causation but just using another cause.

I agree. Believing in science seems to imply "dogmatism for the 4 or 5 highly politicized scientific talking points in the mainstream narrative."

I understand what you're saying but in my opinion the statement "People are NOT rational actors" leads directly to "Economics is NOT simple", "Econ-101 is NOT a comprehensive overview of the field", and &q

I don't know if I agree with a lot of these and I don't know why these falsehoods pertain specifically to programmers and not the general populace. "People are rational actors." should be number 1 and most of the other

I think the issue at hand is different because it's a question of censorship. You'd be infringing on the liberties of others and a central authority would be deciding what's ok and what's not. You could make the argument

It seems like your anti-Trump sentiment is serving as a heuristic for general anti-Americanism. The reality is far from this. The US scores high on list of freedom indices[1] and HDI[2]. So yes, the consequences of making a "bold"

The same inter-generational wealth logic would apply pre-1970s. I think that 1970 is used as a starting point because that's also when real wages started dropping relative to production output. I'm don't think it's fair
