Thank-you! It's definitely a team effort, including several educators as well as the teams from Trinket and Anvil (where I'm a cofounder). A particular shout-out for Albert-Jan Nijburg, who does some contracting for Trinket but do

I think it's mostly a difference in approach. Brython sets out to "replace Javascript with Python" as the language of scripting the Web. This means it has custom bindings to the browser API, supports writing Brython in <sc

Thanks! Our infrastructure is all on AWS and designed to scale horizontally, so we're pretty confident we can handle whatever traffic you throw at your app. (Ask about our dedicated-resource hosting plans!) As for examples, it's a

Their backend is partially inside, partially outside Anvil (eg I believe the campaign management backend runs in our hosted server modules, but the compute-intensive machine learning is offloaded). And it's all under their control -

As a rule, I'm not a fan of the "Eject button" pattern. It's an admission of defeat. It says, "because you needed one advanced feature, I am now dumping you into the Wild West I was previously protecting you from. G

Thank you! When the PyCon UK lightning talks go up on YouTube, you'll be able to see my talk from last night about how we built that autocompleter. Bottom line: Traditional web dev has starved us of decent tool support. Give us even a

I'd take the other side of that bet ;) Anvil's built in "Users" service is incredibly simple and un-magical (user records are just database rows, and you can reimplement vanilla password login in four lines). This make

Honestly, we would absolutely love to open-source it! The issue is that we're a bootstrapped start-up, and it's rather difficult to make open source pay the bills, even if it becomes huge (see, eg, Docker's troubles). By char
