There is a VB6-like tool for the web! I know, because I co-founded it: https://anvil.works I have ranted at length before on the reason that the Web is not amenable to RAD tooling. The short answer is that you have five differen

There is indeed! I'll start with the one I founded: Anvil, which is an end-to-end Web dev system with Python (plus a drag-and-drop UI builder, and lots more good stuff): https://anvil.works Here's our version of how to

If you like this, you should definitely read "Dragonfly: NASA and the crisis aboard Mir" by Bryan Burrough. It's an amazing portrait of the disintegrating immediately-ex-Soviet space program, and the disintegrating space stat

Honestly, if you're looking for a local (Windows) executable, those old 90s tools (VB, Delphi, Xojo [aka RealBasic], even C#) are still great! They're just as good as they were in the 90s; it's just that demand has moved to t

This narrative resonates personally with me. We bootstrapped Anvil in Cambridge (UK), and one of the most common reactions to a demo is "wow, this is actually a real platform, deep enough to have answers to my follow-on questions"
