You need to talk to an immigration lawyer. Equity and employment are two separate issues. There should be no problem in giving him equity, since US law imposes almost no nationality based restrictions on ownership in a company. Getting him

I think you misunderstood the significance of this research. Nobody is claiming that the circuit is alive or intelligent. The method used is a fairly standard genetic algorithm. The fascinating part is that the evolved circuit is unlike any

Thanks. This had been bugging me too. On a related note, is there a reason only the most recent comments can be viewed for a user? Is there a way to access all your own comments?

My comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek. To answer your question though, the law and legal procedures are there to protect investors. Otherwise, whats to prevent you from running away with their money?

I don't understand your point. Are you talking about some sort of digital bartering system? And what exactly is the "overhead" of using money (I hope you aren't referring to the fact that it has to be earned)?

So how would you spend this hypothetical wealth? The abstract concept of money is what allows the development of a highly specialized economy. Greater specialization leads to greater productivity, and hence increased wealth.

I suspect the solution lies in the phrase "in fact empty". The empty relation is trivially well founded. So look at why set membership for y should be the empty relation. I'll take a shot (with the caveat that I'm no logician, and I'm not e

I wouldn't call "dating Julia Roberts" an idea. By that measure, becoming king of the world, solving P vs NP, winning Wimbledon, would all be ideas. All these are goals, not ideas.

Gladwell's writing is very seductive but frequently wrong. I like to think of it as speculative non-fiction. It has the same mind-expanding qualities as good SF, and its connection to reality can be just as tenuous. It is very easy to make

All I'm saying is that you can't take away the right to sue for perceived harm. Its all very well to declare that the US legal system is broken, but its not right to say that the shareholders should not be allowed to sue the board in such

If a board takes a decision on other grounds and neglects its fiduciary duty to the shareholders, they can sue. This is probably what the people suing feel has happened. Of course proving it in court is a different matter. You typically sue
