That's interesting. Anecdotal, but my younger brother turned out different from the tiger parenting. He was also more "Americanized" than me. "Defying and undermining of authority" sounds like him.

Being a new parent, I've read a lot of parenting books this year. One of my favorites was No Drama Discipline. Having grown up in an authoritarian, Asian, tiger-parenting style, this book opened my eyes on a more gentler, warmer way to

I'm similar. Critiquing a photo from a technical perspective is the low-effort way to do it. Getting a technically good photo is probably the easiest thing to do. When I was more serious into photography back in the day, getting a phot

In this current internet age, there's a lot of trends of fashion. There was even a trend called normcore ( https://www.highsnobiety.com/p/what-is-normcore/ ) that rejected typical fashion trends at that time.

It's hard to say. But I've been a fan of Juregen Teller for a while. He wants to break all the "rules" of fashion photography and photography in general. You're right, if you post these anonymously to IG, no one wou

Another recent example of how "bad photography" inspired "good photos" is Juergen Teller's shoot with W magazine. https://www.wmagazine.com/culture/best-performances-portfoli... The photos are

I had a company that allowed half day Fridays if we worked 9 hours a day M-Thu. I only chose to do that once. Staying in the office twiddling your thumbs for an extra hour felt more excruciating for me. I would prefer we adapt a flex schedu

I would say most people with a lot of comments are using pods already. If you've used pods, you'll immediately know if most of the comments come from pods. Also, I highly doubt any engagement on social media is genuine. Some peopl

I used to know a few influencers. I still do. I was part of that culture since I was a photographer and cared about my social media clout. This was 3-4 years ago, when IG used to rule, instead of Tiktok. I don't know if things changed

Most image processing has to do with imitating full frame sensors (better low light photography, DOF, etc.) So I'm not sure if full frame/APSC/Med-format cameras need the same image processing that camera phones have. Also, m

I almost transitioned into photography as my career. In fashion photography (and probably other genres), the editorial spreads in your fashion magazines, (Vogue, Harper's, etc) aren't paid much. They are for promotion. They do pay

I'm senior and been at many companies. We still write a ton of code. Of course, you do that and still do PRs, attend boring meetings, mentor juniors, etc.

Maybe differently skilled? If all you have are front-end engineers, then TS will require a different skill set since front end guys don't usually deal with typed languages. If they have experience in other languages, it might be fine.

Is it for front end or back end? For front end dev, I would stick with JS. A lot of resources for the front end is mainly in JS currently, although TS resources are catching up. If it's back-end development, I would do TypeScript. The

In terms of inaccurate sensors, all of them have inaccurate sensors. They are all taking an educated guess. If you need accurate sensors, you have to buy dedicated sensor for what you need (heart rate, oxygen, etc). It also depends on what

Another con of GraphQL (and probably GRPC) is caching. You basically get it for free with REST. REST can also return protobufs, with content type application/x-protobuf. Heck, it can return any Content-Type. It doesn't have to be

The best way is to find a functional programmer mentor. First write an app the "normal" way. Then ask them to review your code and see how they would write it in a more functional way. That's the best way that helped me grok
