Would be nice if quotas actually worked on time partitioned tables.

"more than gross" is hardly a scientific analysis of cleanliness, though I guess in line with this article (which is why I flagged it).

Yes, people are like "oh NSL". Are they not paying attention to carrier access, stingray, general SIGINT? Like really this is HN at its most ridiculous.

A person who knows what they're doing can stalk 50 different ways. Saying that it's worth giving up all the improvements this can make to make that impossible through just this one venue is frankly ridiculous.

I have nation states as part of my threat model so stealing keys enables passive and active monitoring vs popping a box and getting some limited subset of connections intercepted.

I'm guessing that that figure is just for the emulation code. The UI and sound interface code eat up quite a few lines of code. Doesn't hurt to actually dig instead of karma farming...

As far as I understand heartbleed, the core issue was that you could search memory for the private key and then do whatever you wanted with it. With an HSM, that wouldn't be an issue. However, it's true that you could search for o

This exactly. You use a HSM so it doesn't matter if your server gets popped.

And that report is just the facts? I haven't seen real news in a couple decades then. Better just filter it all.

Those were bad times. Trying to get someone updated when you didn't have a firewall to put in front of a friend's box was really hard.

I challenge anyone to put together a robust definition of what "real news" is. This is a fundamentally unsolved problem at the philosophical level.

I see what you mean now, using like qemu or something. So "emulated native compilation". It is an interesting concept. Sorry for misunderstanding you.

It's not emulation, it's cross-compilation which has existed basically forever. You don't have to target the same instruction set as the one you're compiling on.

Not enough effort bridging the gap with rural voters? Too much belief that people would vote along racial and gender lines?

This fear based "what if" is what is moving us towards "tribal discourse" and is an existential danger to our country far more than Trump. Between safety above all else and the out-group is evil, we're looking at th

I do not think "censorship" means what you think it means. Censorship would be moderators deleting something. Making claims without citations is fully in play to downvote.

Based on my experience with feminist though in academia, objectivity as a mask for bias is the issue. The preferred method to address is to surface as much of the implicit bias a possible so the whole can be considered. I don't find th

If you're running multiple copies of anything that cares about the concept of a master it better have its own consensus algorithm. Luckily such things exist and are open source.
