In my scheme, 1 always means DR and -1 always means CR. I use this, rather than the strings DR/CR, so the database can more easily do arithmetic to calculate balances. In order to do that arithmetic, we multiply the account's norm

This is really great! Maybe I'll incorporate this into my own software (scratchdata/scratchdb) Question: it looks like you wrote the parser by hand. How did you decide that that was the right approach? I myself am new to parsers a

The big advantage of this project in my opinion is that it will pass functions it doesn’t recognize to the underlying DB. With prql, if they don’t support your favorite operator then you’re out of luck.

Ah, I missed that! I'm reminded of when we bought floor tiles for our home. Some are priced per piece, and others per sq foot. You can imagine our shock when we loaded up the cart and our bill was astronomical. Feedback-wise: I'd

This is really cool! I just uploaded my documentation site that I'm working on. Some quick feedback: - The "ssh to create account" is cool and I'm thinking of copying this idea. Can you share other feedback you've g

Awesome! I’ve been desperately looking for a slack alternative. In part I want something more lightweight, and nowadays there are so many little upsells that get in the way. My biggest use case is talking to people on other teams (Slack Con

Question about contexts in general: is there a way to "guarantee" that contexts are used correctly by whoever is consuming my context? For example, if I call http.NewRequestWithContext(), how do I, as the caller, know that http is

I'd disagree with your first sentence, which is that the data only contains notes. The original score - the data - also includes note duration, which notes are voiced simultaneously, and a starting and terminal note of the composition.

Fair point about the original comment talking about rhythm. Agree we don’t study it in theory. And thanks for sharing Dilla, this is new to me.

I think (have never tried) that analyzing the harmony and rhythm (can you quantify syncopation?) you’d have a good start at determining if a song is worth listening to.

We have this today! Roman numeral analysis and the study of western music theory will give you the tools to be able to compose a piece of music, without listening to it, and know what will sound good or bad or new and surprising to the list

I’m admittedly baffled by this article, and I’ve also skimmed the arxiv paper. I’ve formally studied music theory and Bach more than the average person. First, I’m not sure why the author has chosen to represent music as a graph showing the

Shameless plug: I've built a tool that automatically generates certs and uploads to destinations. https://github.com/poundifdef/certmaster It uses Lego under the hood to issue certs, and then has custom connectors

Really interesting question(s)! Will try to answer the gist. First, the system is designed for users to be able to drop in whatever hardware they want. So your questions are around my initial deployment options. These will certainly change
