Actually the 'fail fast, learn faster' and 'launch often' approach is what the Soviets did. SpaceX is following the same methodology 20 years later but with far better technology and learnings. Though it seems they are a

On thing the US military is betting on is that nobody can tell WHERE this video took place. But geocoders on the internet work miracles. I recommend searching to see where this took place. Both the Russians and US lied in different ways. Bo

Ultimately it's the capital that the banks have that limit how much they can lend, not reserves. Their capital requirements are the limit. Once capital falls below a certain percentage, the bank is in trouble.

It's a useful model the same way a toy hotwheel is a model of a car. Yes they both have four wheels. Notice the issue that SVB had was a huge influx of deposits and not enough loans.

Banks don't lend out deposits. They don't take deposits and lend out 90% or so. Fractional reserve banking is a model of how banking works but it's a wrong model. In reality banks make loans (which create deposits). They try

Banks don't loan deposits. You have it exactly backwards. Loans create deposits. Banks aren't intermediaries, but creators of money.

If labor drove inflation then we wouldn't be seeing record profits. Prices increase when owners of business decide and usually whatever they think they can get away with.

It's often faster and cheaper to fix bugs right away. It often takes longer to put the bug in a bug tracker and prioritize it than to fix it. I have a simple rule that has worked to keep bugs at zero. If you find a bug, drop what you a

It's likely using Jolla's AppSupport (no official announcements, just my guess). It's not Android Based but an Android compatibility layer. Kind of how WINE lets you run Windows apps in Linux. I have a Sailfish OS, and it

The latter isn't real because most people don't interact with markets, the former is how prices actually rise.

This is a great example of how supply and demand, in the real world, works. Prices don't automatically rise during supply constraints, or demand increases. Prices rise when those selling decide to raise them. Also, most people don'

How do you rate a good teacher with a bad one? Education is a bit different than most professions. Testing kids solves for the wrong thing as teachers are forced to "teach to the test" instead of educate children. I recommend the

Ungifted? Strange, I can say the same thing about highly paid tech people I know. It's rather easy to say such things. We are, after all, on HN, all above average in giftedness. Or so we think.

Why? the market has huge flaws. For example, most money is held by a very small amount of people. Should the market solve for them or for the vast number of people? The market has externalities, which is a huge flaw in pricing things. This

Right, but limited supply doesn't have to mean raising prices. That decision is done by management and business owners. It's not an automatic kind of outcome, but a deliberate one.

Savings and Debt are two sides of the same coin. The savings in your bank account is someone else's debt. The Bank of England has a great explanation of this here: https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/quarterly-bulletin/
