MS Supports most things for 10 years. IE 6 came out in late 2001, so you've got about another year and a half before your argument makes sense.

I think the intent was to make Linus feel like the child he was (is?). I thought it worked. Linus is quite patronizing in practically all of his e-mails, so I don't see why others wouldn't return the favor.

I remember reading a while back how Digg had tables with thousands of columns. I know MySQL isn't the fastest, but a speedup for Digg really isn't that impressive.

Gigantic type set? Ok. Irrelevant background images? No consistency amongst other UI elements?! Please explain. All I see is consistency in this UI style. And the background images look pretty relevant to me.

Hostmonster.com also stores your password in plaintext. When I called customer support once they asked me for the last 4 characters of my password. So, I asked the support guy "Can you see just the last 4 or can you see my whole password?

I got to play the Natal Ricochet game this summer and I must say that it worked flawlessly. The only thing that didn't feel natural was the response time, which they said they were trying to improve.
