I'm hoping to do something similar, but only use HW that I own or can find at yard/estates sales. I bought a 4Tb WD My Cloud this weekend for $5. Found a 2Tb for $1 several years ago and WD replaced it for free.

I was given a Macintosh SE model M5010 and a M5011 in 2020. Both have bad hard drives, but the batteries are not leaking. I'm not sure when I'll get around to working on them.

I worked in a PCB shop that had a network of 1 1/2" PVC pipe for compressed air. When Tees failed we would lose production for the remainder of the day. We finally replaced the entire network with type M copper.

Sure, I started an IRA account in 1985 with CDs paying 10+% But, I bought my house in 1982 with a 15.5% mortgage, refinanced @ 11.25 after a couple years and again @ 8.5% until it was paid off in 2002

I wondered about this. Searching for products that I can pick up locally is difficult on Walmart, Target, Lowes, HomeDepot websites. I should be able to limit search to stores nearby and avoid third party and shipped options.
