Why not? A strong premium hardware manufacturer is needed pretty badly right now in the PC industry. The last one standing is Lenovo, and most of its product line is shameful garbage. When manufacturers compete on merit, everyone wins.

My observation as well. Bought a Surface Book earlier this year and it was crashy as hell. Took it back to the store. Good luck competing with Apple in the premium segment with this level of QA.

Patents are usually pretty broad, so they may have things that cover cell tower stuff as well. And since pricing is more or less arbitrary, they could eke out some cash for the more fundamental ones.

India has no way to go but up, IMO. Half the country is illiterate, fer chrissakes. Get that number down and growth is more or less inevitable. Social unrest is inevitable as well, though.

I wonder how much Ericsson is paying Apple for _their_ portfolio, though. These patent deals usually imply reciprocity, including licensing fee reciprocity.

Easy to fix for a lot of comp sci papers. Require that to be accepted into a conference the papers must have a working, open source implementation that confirms the results, preferably in the form of a Docker container(s) or a VM image(s).

1. Be that as it may, no one is idiot enough to create their life's work on a proprietary platform. 2. Which is why commercial unixes are being supplanted by FOSS. And it far easier to do than, eg porting anything from Windows to anyth

How is it "first class" then if it's like 35% slower on CPU-bound workloads?

One thing I don't get is why does powershell have to be so shitty as a programming language? It literally doesn't look like anything else on Windows. Also, the handling of _interactive_ command line in powershell is atrocious.

Maybe that's what it is now, but there was a window of time when Microsoft offered it as a free download off MSDN to anyone who wants it. That's when I got my copy.

You're mistaking a few noobs for "the Linux scene". The actual Linux scene is basically running the world by now. Not even Microsoft can ignore this fact. In fact I suspect Microsoft will recognize just how shitty Windows is

IMO, Microsoft got it right way back when with LINQ syntax. They did it for a different reason (to make things easier to convert to a sequence of plain, old fashioned method invocations), but the idea was the right one. For those who don&#x
