That's not a 'critique', rather it is uninformed prejudice. The concept that averaging faces produces attractiveness has been well studied: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Averageness The jezebel author a

ARMv8 in this case is just an instruction set spec. Apple's implementation is very much something to steal, given that it outperforms everyone else's.

I know where the assertion about the round corners comes from. Are you seriously claiming that this is all that Apple has contributed to the design of modern smartphones?

If you really think Apple has contributed nothing more to the modern smartphone than 'rounded corners', this is not the appropriate place to ask this question because you risk being mistaken for someone trying to start a flamewar.

Gruber reported the speculation as just that - speculation. He didn't write crazy opinions about how 'Samsung was doomed' or how 'Samsung's CEO should step down' etc. etc. His swift acknowledgement of when he

An arrangement of atoms is a snapshot of a small part of a physical process with arbitrary boundaries drawn around it.

I think we are in agreement. Although I'll comment that I think the brain is purely physical, but that the mind is an abstract entity that we don't have a good understanding of. It extends beyond the brain, not in a supernatural

You've contradicted the statement that you made elsewhere - that it's the arrangement of atoms that matters. There's nothing magical about the processes, but the specific state matters.

I don't really see how Jini was trying to solve the same problems. iBeacons are really just a simple way to discover devices nearby broadcasting a UUID. Jini was a super complicated attempt to create a distributed device fabric, whic

It's worth noting that iOS devices themselves can serve as beacons - so, for example a payment terminal app running on an iPad can announce itself to nearby iPhones.

This is just FUD. It's clear why sandboxing is required for the MAS - so that users can expect iOS like safety from the apps. It's also clear why MAS is required for iCloud - because otherwise anonymous developers would be able

I don't think anyone's ignoring the decisions. Apple prioritized getting updates into the hands of customers. Google did not, since as you say their design decisions make what apple has achieved impossible for them.
