They fall apart at every occasion/update and you're missing out on most of the Apple ecosystem bonus/online infrastructure, which is a big part of why people buy Apple products. They're also naturally stuck on Intel CPUs

$1000 is a lot of money for a lot of people, including me - I could afford it for sure, but yes - absolutely 0 upgradeability and repairability, even on the more expensive models, makes me never want to spend any of my own money on their pr

I'd guess "Has productive and unproductive days." kinda covers this, definitely feeling the same - especially with wfh, I feel like there's days where I get as much done as I would in 3 normal days, but some days, I sit

Or most git hosting solutions. Gitea and Gitlab do exactly the same thing, gitea even looks exactly like GitHub, works the same way, and can be hosted on pretty much any machine. It might be GitHub that popularized this, but it made open so

Really must be anecdotal, I've been running a major open source project on Github for 3 years now and the only pull requests I've ever had to turn away were major refactorings that I preferred to do myself. You can work very metho

The fact is that workflows that are forced on you by hosting a project on SourceHut don't work for the majority of open source contributors anymore. It's no reason for hate or any kind of personal attacks of course, but saying &qu

What is that supposed to say about reputation? It's the most popular browser by far, and they actually do have a very publicized team that reports bugs to not just Chrome, but Apple and Mozilla as well. In my circles this is well respe

This is why a lot of our internal tools are in Dear ImGUI - it's just such a pleasure to make functional UI that still looks acceptable with 5% of the code.

Your model would have to differentiate between birds and chicken, sounds like an interesting problem to solve. Playing a loud noise would probably be enough, but you obviously don't want to scare your chickens, so maybe a auto-aiming n

I can't give you any benchmarks, but in my experience (from wrapping a big C++ game engine in generated C#), modern .NET interop overhead is basically unnoticeable. .NET 7 finally also ships with NativeAOT which compiles your C# to nat

It might be, but I know that I had 200TB of real traffic via Cloudflare this month, while I paid for 8TB on my upstream. Running services of that scale would be utterly impossible for me and probably a lot of other people without their help

But... you want people to use the software you make as a developer, I assume? In the same way that Blender provides an input mode for Maya users, Inkscape could provide input modes for Illustrator users. FOSS is supposed to serve people, if

Would be cool to build a few of these and spec them with a LoRa mesh messenger network. You could even build solar powered relay boxes to "connect" settlements. In the end it's all just a toy anyways, but it feels nice to com

Inkscape definitely needs an UX refresh like Blender had one. It's very hard to pick up, lots of weird/arcane behavior that doesn't match other tools in the space. Happy to see that work is still being done.

This is great, but really should've been done in the first place. Must've been a major PR oversight/disconnect, no clue how that happened.

This is also how Nintendo Switch games "emulate" the Wiimote cursor in Wii ports. It's quite functional, even though you have to end up resetting the position of the cursor every 10 minutes or so.
