PHP has had an OPCache as an add-on since 5.1.0(around 2004), and by default since 5.5.0: https://www.php.net/manual/en/intro.opcache.php

Archive.org hosts plenty of Nintendo content, they just don't show it off - I assume that is exactly because Nintendo is the only one of the orgs you listed that still goes after people hosting their 30 year old games, because they kno

I really enjoy that some of these UI patterns from the 2002 app are still common and found in modern Microsoft apps like Visual Studio. Really shows that some things just work the way they are, and don't need a fancy metro/modern

Yeah, as far as I know they run 5 machines with these specs for the actual conferences now - still encountering these issues and no end of covid in sight for the near future, so I hope that they can figure it out.

I really don't like it. They are generally harder and if I visit a CF site multiple times, I have to solve them multiple times. Even if this is up to the customer, it's annoying and should be discouraged. I didn't mind solvin

Considering how much my university(about 3k students) seems to struggle with their BigBlueButton install, I wonder if it's really that hard to scale. Voice, video drop out all the time, loading takes ages, recordings only process 50% o

I don't think you can attribute this universally to "gamers" - there's a lot of games that don't have obvious hacking problems by employing various other measures which aren't as invasive. I'd call myself

To be even remotely safe from this, you need to use a kernel driver, which is invasive and widely seen as unacceptable - at the moment anyhow. See Riot and Valorant from earlier this year. There was a lot of outcry and the response from the

If they would do what you say in your last paragraph, they would be cutting off new creators coming to the platform, which would be incredibly stupid since a lot of small time creators that make great content and wouldn't otherwise sti

Slightly off topic, but it's crazy how polarized this topic is - even on HN. Try scrolling through this thread with dead comments on. Many of them are probably trolls, still, it's weird to me.

Not sure what your background is, but if you work in SEO or do web optimization in general, this article really isn't that bad to get the gist of. Maybe it's more of a target group thing? This isn't really a "everyone ne

It's totally irrelevant if this requires root or not, since the issue is about endpoint firewalls not being able to see this traffic/filter it. A normal non-apple root process doesn't have this privilege, going by the describ

Only if the server doesn't respond in time, that is - if you'd wanna prevent it from happening, you could just turn it off in the first place via GPO: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security

Note that SmartScreen has an UI that lets you bypass it without having to disable it system wide, and has a sane timeout (I believe 30 seconds) after which it just pops up a dialogue box telling you that it can't check the binary, allo

Is posting such baity non-journalism on here nowadays a way to farm karma? This doesn't give anyone actual value, most of the things listed are common sense and if you use Google Maps, you are probably already aware of it. I'd wag

I think this varies a lot from person to person - I love being up to date and knowing what's going on in the world keeps me 'calm', just to give perspective. As an art piece, this certainly keeps itself in the background and

I think what this mostly shows is the unimaginable complexity that many parts of life carry, even if I myself may not have insight into them. And it's probably an alright source for people whose geo data isn't looking right.

You're doing something very wrong if you take 15 minutes to solve these and aren't on Tor. Even on public VPN and Firefox this doesn't happen usually. I know people that pick the wrong options to fuck with their models though
