I did try uploading my exported notes to Evernote, but it's handwriting recognition doesn't work on PDFs. I suppose I could try screenshots, though.

Which iPad note-taking apps have you tried? There are definitely a lot of terrible ones out there. Notability, however, is absolutely fantastic. I've been using it with a Cosmonaut stylus since late May and I haven't used a paper notebook

I agree. For example, atheism.about.com is a very well-curated section, run by an experienced and knowledgeable guide. It deserves more attention than it gets.

Plus, it will take a very long time to get to that staffer. Ever since Congress went through the anthrax scares a decade ago, their snail-mail is highly scrutinized, which slows down delivery.

This tactic is, IMO, a variety of concern trolling. I am also not a fan. Thank you for bringing attention to it.

I'm still reading the essay -- I had to stop and comment about the following paragraph: "This results in folks that think adding more developers to a project at the beginning will allow them to hit an arbitrary date by spreading out the wor

This reminds me of one of the problems with the never-released Infinium Labs Phantom console -- making PC games designed with a 2ft UI playable at a distance of 10 feet in the living room. This project's goals strike me as quite similar to

USA Today published an article about it in their Tech section on Wednesday, I would think they're about as mainstream as the media gets in the US. I agree that this story doesn't really seem to have been overlooked. http://usat.ly/KTMAB5

Are you familiar with the concept of enthusiastic consent? I do believe you have hit upon how to teach it to children, which is simply wonderful IMO. Also, not only have you found a way to protect your sons from the most common sort of pr

It's also fairly typical for them to take their time in carefully crafting a response in situations like these. We may see something from them yet on this, I think it's too early to say.

YouTube is definitely my first stop when I want to check out some new-to-me music that my friends have been raving about. It's my new, on-demand version of MTV. I dislike what often happens if I add something to a playlist for future liste

This whole conversation about learning to code puts me in mind of what CMU's Jeanette Wing calls "Computational Thinking", this comment especially. Here is her article from CACM on the subject: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~wing/publications/Wing

I would venture a similar guess. I haven't listened to The Talk Show, but I did listen to The Critical Path with Horace Dedieu for its first few months and based on that I would say that Benjamin isn't even that great of a guide -- I often

I haven't seen either talk, but I am really curious now about why TED would post Wilkinson's talk but not Hanauer's, if they both address the subject income inequality.

"We're operating a tax system designed for a bell-curve income distribution when what we actually have is a power-law income distribution." Well said. I'd upvote more than once if I could.

I think it's also worthwhile to recognize that librarians have been trying to sound the alarm on this problem for at least a decade. In 2001, Kenneth Frazier, Director of Libraries at UW-Madison, wrote an article in D-Lib Magazine where he

I completed an MSLIS degree in 2008. My classmates who were bound for traditional library careers used to joke that the only masters-level degree that pays less after graduation is Social Work. The WSJ published a sortable table of unemplo

"To protect and serve" is the motto of the LAPD. Otherwise, it's a TV trope that arose out of the fact that most television in the US comes from southern California; it has never been a generic police slogan. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pm

I find it kind of sadly ironic that morse code could actually speed up input, and perhaps shouldn't be treated as a joke. For example, a pair of telegraph operators beat "the world's fastest SMS texter" on Jay Leno a couple years back. ht
