How many Uber drivers have you spoken to? Kalanick's moral compass may or may not be aligned, but the service his company offers is awesome.

Then don't buy their cars and their stock. The people who do obviously have a very different worldview than yours.

You're not in a good position to start consulting - you have no understanding how that business works. If you really want to build a product, start building a product right away.

Switching OS is not an easy task. I'd say go for an MBP only if you have a lot of passion to play with OS X. If you don't like the Apple OS, you have the option to use an MBP as a native Windows laptop. IMHO in the last few years

Like C# of yesterday, after people realize they can put all their program code in a single IO monad for ultimate power and flexibility :)

Is F# a good alternative to C# for writing purely object-oriented code? For my current project I have a very low level spec/architecture, that says class Abc does Xyz, classes A1, A2, A3 implement a strategy pattern, etc. It's des

How much more - 1%, 10%, 100%? Has anyone ever seen an ECC error on a desktop, with a module that passes MemTest?

The point is GM won't beat Tesla, for similar reasons to why BB and Nokia didn't beat Apple, despite having a number of advantages.

ECC is a feel good feature, but is mostly useless. Memory either is corrupted (which can be detected by running MemTest) or it works perfectly fine without ECC. I have over 50 10+ year old Itanium servers with 192GB ECC RAM each, there are

>> If you're buying a desktop quadcore processor in 2017, you're doing it wrong. May as well buy a laptop. Not true, IDEs, web browsers, office tools need single core performance and not 4+ cores. A laptop is more expensive,

8 lanes per GPU is plenty, the performance diff with 16 is ~3%. Games will run faster with SLI setup on Ryzen. Why do you even need SLI, 1080 Ti will be good enough for 5K gaming.

Because they had no competition, so no desire for higher performance. They can easily remove the GPU from Kaby Lake, use that transistor/thermal budget for 4 additional cores and add 128MB of L4 cache for a monster CPU.

Yes, one can legally build and sell an 8086 clone. But there are tons of patented extensions in newer CPUs, e.g. http://www.patents.com/us-7499962.html .
