5k?! That's seriously low. Other velomobiles (going by velomobiel.nl) aren't even ebikes and still go for at least 8k (or 6.6k without VAT to be fair). That's an exciting development, hopefully it's not vaporware.

It's strange that this is a meme, because my experience is the opposite: as a motorist, bicycles are the most visible things around. As a cyclist, I see cars react to me every time I'm close enough to them that it's relevant.

Ah, the amorphous "they". Like the amorphous "many". I'm not sure there's all that many that do this.

You're saying I should use custom symbols like 'true and 'false and put in checks like (eq 'false x) instead of (null x)? To avoid subtle errors? Honest question.

There's always going to be a few who don't get it, and those are the ones who end up publishing. What I'd like to see is widespread understanding on the readers' part of sampling biases like this.

Keeping in mind I'm a hobbyist, not a professional, but it seems to me much of coding boils down to this process of refactoring, spinning out libraries and restructuring to use Terraform or whatever, and at some point the process itsel

Easy to say. Of course you do that when you can. What afflicts me is all the cases when the task is subtly different, with different requirements, but still feels like something I've done before.

TLDR: re3data and FAIRsharing appear to be registries of "where can you find this repository", in case they change URI, I guess. Not so much for finding specific datasets, just hosters? I noticed many of these repos are javascript

Let's not forget that when users can give feedback, many of them are harsh and entitled about it. See why some projects turn off the GitHub issue tracker.

For me, plain black looks very cheap: it shows me that my monitor's "black" actually is grey (hardware dependent of course). By opting for color, the off-blackness is intentional and thus forgivable.

I cook fish which is much worse for my co-tenants than coffee smoke. Kitchens make all sorts of smells, but it's fine as it's temporary. The chaff is quickly wiped away if the counter is reasonably clear. If the counter is a clutt

I've read low methionine per se isn't as ideal as an appropriate methionine-glycine balance (googlable if you want), i.e. sure, eat a bit less muscle meat, but focus on eating more skin and bone broth -- the whole animal.

SCP is the opposite of say, the Star Wars franchise where George Lucas (now Disney) gets to say what's canon even if all the fans disagree. In the SCP-verse, everything is licensed Creative Commons (I think), so your own headcanon is

Modern phones have done their utmost to end these. If you even find the option to load a vcard they will (often sneakily) copy the contents to Google Contacts or similar, and you don't know if the phone is even keeping the vcard update

There are better ways of doing that. This type of knowledge, we're prone to overapply to others and underapply to ourselves. You see the many flaws of the enemy camp and don't see as many in your own. So you pigeonhole yourself in
