You may consider that WSL is to Cygwin as Wine is to Winelib.

Hey Drew (and other contributors), thanks for all your work on this, I switched from i3 to Sway last week and everything has been quite stable. My only gripe has been that screenshotting/screencasting apps can only pull from fullscreen

Well yes, the bad ad buying is often done on purpose. In theory I would not have a problem with advertisers wasting money on this, because I figured that by now they should be getting outbid by actually competitive ads that promote new valu

I think it's a common misconception that "the algorithm" is responsible for this, when what is actually happening is that an advertiser is bidding on the wrong users and effectively buying bad ads.

I don't have any personal recommendations, but next time you are looking at purchasing an indie game, you might consider checking if it's available on Itch first. That's how I got into it anyway. The developers I've talk

As the film industry has demonstrated it is perfectly okay for independent productions to be non-union. There is little need or use for organized negotiations in that situation.

I won't even play games anymore because I find those conditions to be deeply disturbing on many levels. I can't in good conscience support these workers grinding themselves to the bone just so I can receive slightly more motor cor

Sure you can port it, but as it stands that code will never be mainlined. Meaning it will be mostly impossible for AAA developers to come together to improve it.

Godot doesn't get much interest from AAA developers because typically they are interested in shipping on consoles, and it's impossible to support the current crop of locked-down proprietary consoles in a free and open source engin

The tiling window manager equivalent would be to put it off in a high-numbered workspace, or alternatively, in a detached screen/tmux session.

I don't see what the issue here is. If you don't have the time to do it then get someone else to do it. If they won't do it for free then you pay them. The unfortunate part is that if you regularly buy brand new Nvidia cards

I'm not sure what it is you're looking for. If you're drafting a new free software license you will need to consider how you provide the four freedoms in addition to what your model for development is. What you dismiss as dog

I have also been at startups that wasted large amounts of time and capital trying to work with the wrong tools. The risk isn't worth it especially when a lot of other startups in the same ecosystem (competitors for the same VC dollars)

I personally have paid for software in the past, but I don't do it much anymore because: A) Self-funding a startup has required me to become quite frugal B) Giving money to competitors is almost always a mistake Unfortunately that'

It's really great to see a working proof-of-concept of the declarative GTK wrapper. That kind of thing is sorely needed for compiled native applications.

Wine is a lot broader in scope than WSL, while Microsoft is fine with implementing a kernel-level ABI and then shipping a download for an Ubuntu userspace, Wine cannot ship any official Windows components. They had to re-implement every imp

I haven't used Windows in quite some time, but I believe they are quite different. WSL is more like a very basic version of Wine in that it implements Linux system calls and can execute ELF binaries, and as such requires you to install

If you know where to look you can find free software games (not necessarily even limited to GPL) that are making money right now. Of course they aren't the majority, but I think a lot of us would like to change that. The biggest potent
