I agree - I would choose Java (or I guess Scala if I had a really good team around me) for the core stuff. I might bridge out beyond the core though and start using Groovy or JRuby for non-core functionality. Jersey/JAX-RS are good, alterna

I usually just pay what I owe and a 15 - 20% tip. Occasionally, and it depends on the acquaintances/friends. I am with, I will do equal split (total + tip) / number of people. Is this really that difficult?

I agree - it was the wrong word. One can be successful and never be rich, however, wealth is a property of success, albeit a non-essential one. That said, I still think most people want money and will take the easiest path to money - if sma

Small ideas are low risk and have a high chance of payout. Can you blame people for taking the path of least resistance to success? Further, if your small idea makes you rich you can always funnel later time and success-money into altruisti

Am I the only one who thinks the idea of completely unplugging oneself from their work during a vacation is wrong, particularly in the case of high tech industry professionals? It sounds nice in concept, but in reality is impractical - busi

This was really the opposite experience I had when I was a teller in a bank. The amounts were similar but the chance of getting caught was slim. We had a binder of local bank roberies that we updated when the person was caught. It was usual

The Play team or someone else could just re-implement the template layer as Groovy once again. Scala has a lot of nice things going for it, but using it for the Play2 template language was stupid - the benefits do not outweigh the drawbacks

As an American it is funny you say that, when I visited France a few years back I spent time in Nice and Paris and it definitely seemed like road vehicles had the right of way. Pedestrians had to be smart about when crossing (even if that i

Worcester is actually growing. I grew up in that city, lived there for most of my life, though I do not live there anymore. It's not shrinking by any means, just examining the census numbers shows it outpacing Boston in growth 4.9% to 4.8%

Cool idea, but I think it would just shift the target from the consumer to the manufacturer. There is no way a sensible manufacturer is going to build one of these if they can be held liable (IANAL - I don't know if that is possible given c

Cutler is definitely under appreciated, but I agree he is a one man army in terms of what he has created. I say under appreciated, because he seems like a rather quiet figure who does not do a lot of showboating or seek attention and becaus
