I do this as well. Just install vanilla docker from docker.org Works really well. I just have to manually start the docker service (no systemd in WSL2) or dig out the MS command for running services on startup.

You made your job your social life... I was the same when I was younger. That petered off once I had a family. Now 40 years in, my work and social circles barely intersect. Now, I find WFH to be more productive, easier to concentrate, and

I use mobaxterm on windows which has an X terminal builtin (IIRC). I've never actually had to use it - I just the the ssh/rdp/scp stuff. But its free to try it...

I wasn't contesting that, just pointing out I don't think 'most' people budget annually. For that matter, most I know don't seem to remember last years prices good or bad. They are more worried about the present.

Unless I'm mistaken...'most' people are still living pretty much paycheck to paycheck, and budgeting based on what they can afford at the moment. TBH though, I haven't looked lately. Anecdotally, no-one I know complain

I didn't know there's farmland up there...the new yorker article made it sound pretty 'yuppy desert retreat'. What I find really weird is their assumption that Scottsdale will just bail them out. >>This goes to sh

yeah - PHX water usage has apparently fallen, so I'm not surprised water tables have risen. Un-incorporated areas north of Scottsdale are already seeing their aquifers run dry(1,2). I'm not sure who would buy a house in the deser

PHX is in better shape then a lot of places for water. The work SRP puts in to ensure that is really interesting (1, 2, 3) PHX actually gets water from 3 rivers (colorado, salt, and verde) as well as huge groundwater 'banks' (ho

I keep hearing about ageism, but never encountered it. At 54, I've just landed my last job a year or two ago and age wasn't an issue. As in all things tech, I think if you have the skills that are in demand, good jobs are not to

Personally, I'm wondering if the 'mobile first' stuff will reverse in 10-20 years when Millennials and GenZ start having eye trouble. I despise trying to do anything on a cellphone screen. They're just too small. A 12&
