I think your eyes must have crap in them if you think a T-series is flimsy. The big chunk of titanium in the middle makes it rock solid: http://appel.hu/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/rollcage.jpg Lenovo's relatively low score is because

A fucking large pile of expensive broken shit that just packed in is not anecdotal - it's known as evidence.

You nailed it. The pretty factor is not at all important, neither is blindly copying a vendor.

No I'm not. I'm saying that there is no acceptable insulation in the device. The chassis for example uses air gap between the board and the base for insulation. Even condensation can bridge it, which is the theory why mine exploded. Regardi

Yes I do - they are shit, so is their engineering and I'm not afraid to go against the grain and say it. I've never heard of a satisfied long term customer i.e. most of the praise comes from new users with shiny toys. My father has just b

Ahh yes the unibody which is basically a fucking big short circuit, hence why mine caught fire. It's engineering, but it's not SOUND ENGINEERING. I stand by my expensive trinket comment. Buy a Lenovo T-series and you'll understand.

I wouldn't buy another Apple product either. Between a MacBook Pro which caught fire, an AirPort which melted, an iMac which the backlight went on and a MacBook which had to go back 4 times (!) due to logic board problems, it scares the shi

If you pick the home::1 contract, it's not tied to any time of the day. "No units or time periods - usage is any time of day or night." I work from home a lot too and have a wife and three children on the end of the line as well. If everyon

Actually not strictly true. Only the larger named ISPs (larger market share) have to comply. The smaller ISPs do not. +£10 for 100Gb. +£20 for 200Gb. Not particularly expensive and considering it's a proper line, not some screwed up censore

And indeed in my case grow up to be 40 year old Debian users when they get fed up with Canonical's dubious decision making.

If you are suffering from this, please switch to a proper ISP such as Andrews and Arnold or newnet plc. Cheap ubiquitous internet connections in the UK are always broken in some way.

I think this should be: 7 books of a highly academic programmer. A highly effective programmer probably should be reading other topics as to be honest, most of programming is laborious non comp Sci stuff.

Amateurs have been running packet ax25 networks for years. Pirate packet radio might be the only viable form of net neutrality if these goons get their own way.

Perhaps the problem is that you shouldn't be sitting in front of the computer at work and at home rather than have a standing desk at either?

Depends how far you walk. Too much exercise decreases your lifespan as much as too little.

Well tend to walk about 5-6 miles a day and do nothing else whatsoever and I'm in very good health. I don't eat meat though so my metabolism is probably different.

I hate this whole standing/treadmill desk fad. It solves the wrong end of the problem. Sitting on your ass is fine but don't do it all day. I can understand if you're a hamster in a cage but seriously just go for a walk instead.

Documentation is part of engineering. Hire engineers rather than two bit coders. They already have the culture burned in. Works for us. Most people not up to it I.e. find it boring or can't put a sentence together bail in a month because th

I've worked with military types on engineering projects. This is how they works. People in the military accept it and pass the doctrine on over and over. It's like a crazy religion to be honest.
