Used one of these before (YubiKey) - they are an utter pain in the arse. The contacts get dirty, they dont fit some USB ports properly, they die regularly, are absolutely no good if you don't have a USB port handy (my desktop for example do

Yes they do. Most of them are contracted out to companies which have state restoration software on, so if someone screws it up, they can re-image it instantly.

The objection here is that "I can't hack and hack to get the answer without inconveniencing myself". I watch people using this approach all day every day and have to sort out the shit-tip mess that is left behind because it ends up with spr

If it's O2/Telefonica (which it is), then they manage them fucking terribly and deliver shitty products that fall over and leave people in dire shit regularly. Not only that, they stereotype and patronise them terribly.

It depends if your market is there already or if you need to build a market. If the market is there already, it really doesn't matter if it's usable or not. Enterprise software is a fine example of that.

No citation but I know the guys who built it and they're all engineers, computer scientists and physicists. The design portion was "how can we make a case that has the least amount of plastic, is easy to clean and access for service". That'

They are just roles, but the OP implies that when the roles are assigned to individuals, there is conflict. This is true. Any software engineer worth their weight is a good product and project manager and knows how not to build something th

100% agree. This whole "let's build another language/compiler" on top of JavaScript thing is starting to piss me off. It's one of those things that just ends up in utterly huge amounts of excruciating pain with respect to performance, debug

We had an entire system based on SQL Server's "FOR XML" output clause and XML data islands in IE. It was an unmitigated fucking disaster zone that took 5 years to get rid of. That put us off the above pretty sharpish.
