You're right I can use any version control system for my project. But rails has this nice automated hooks to subversion, which I don't have to configure myself. I'm hoping that they have now added the same integration for git.

I find git to be a joy to use. Been using it in all my projects except the ones I do with Rails. Haven't checked the git integration with Rails lately, but with this move, it should be better.

The biggest barrier in my opinion is what most people think is "weird" syntax or the more precisely the absence of it. People are just not used to it. Add to the that the lack of popular libraries for some modern niceties and it really adds

I work equally well in vi and emacs. Now I've switched from emacs to textmate, but still use vi for editing config files. It's just how I work, vi for config files, another editor for code. Of course, I also use vi to write short scripts on

Anonymous peer review can be a bitch. Most people hate it when they're told that they're wrong. I imagine Einstein who always got the free pass would not take it too well.
