While not exactly a duplicate, this site has been posted before, as its a startup run by one of our very own HNers. ( The submission was here http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1534973 ). On the other hand, I still think the idea is a go

I imagine you're in the minority, running Windows as a developer in this community. A lot of the software and tools just don't play as nicely with something that isn't as tightly integrated with a shell. Currently I'm running a Ubuntu 10.04

I know you probably aren't actually trying to blame them for it, but I think its unfair to even state it like that. I'm in college now, with my parents paying for everything necessary, and I started a paid internship the year before univers

Nowhere did I say that I didn't consider the content omitted, but by going in with a bias against the article, you're setting yourself up to already have an opinion without knowing the material.

This opinion sounds very one sided. Do you have any experience within the ruby community, personally?

This is what its supposed to be about, but the worry is that the television companies that are also providing internet, will just create new 'services', that are effectively a non-net-neutral internet.

I've found that a pretty good rule of thumb for recognizing people who don't care to actually validate facts is any time they use "rules of thumb" or something similar. For example, look at the parent of this post, and you'll find a 'Rule o

I'm with you on this so far as the agreements seem rather reasonable, and I kind of assumed that agreeing not to include wireless in the deal for the moment was a compromise with Verizon so they'd agree to the regulations in the first place

Unfortunately, this is not my experience. Just this summer I installed Ubuntu 10.04 desktop on a computer running a relatively new ATI card (It was top of the line a couple years ago, I believe). While in general use its fine, there are ple

Unfortunately, this is exactly what I came in here to say. This truly is a sad day for anyone that wants to use anything but OSX on their Mac. (Written on a Macbook Pro running Ubuntu 10.04)

While this is true, I think my answer still stands even if you plan on retirement for only 10 years. It doesn't really matter, they don't have enough income to live how they're living now, let alone having extra to support themselves once t

You really have to wait for them to come to you with a problem, or at the very least, give them an optional lead in (e.g. "I was having trouble with #{subject x} last night as well, but I think I've got it now. You want me to see if I can't

But no one, not a single person in history, has published more papers in mathematics than Erdos. Only a single person can have claimed to have published more pages than he, and that's Euler. I think its worth recognizing that his regiment o

Sadly, you're right that there isn't a known solution to this yet. If you see my post below, it shows how even if they weren't in an iframe, there are still ways around current framebusting techniques.

Oh, interesting. Thanks for clearing that up. I think that could be made slightly clearer on the website, though as far as I'm concerned, supporting Reddit or supporting charities are both win situations, so it doesn't matter all that much.

Unfortunately, the twitter clickjacking attack still isn't fixed. See http://seclab.stanford.edu/websec/framebusting/index.php for an overview of how that type of defense still can be defeated.
