Optimisation isn't the problem, optimisation is always a good thing. Deciding what the objective is on the other hand, that's the tricky part. Right now we're optimising to an incomplete or incorrect objective function. Of co

My understanding of the belter language was it was partly driven by the necessity to communicate in a vacuum so gestures were also important. Does that feature in the linguistics at all, or is it purely supplemental?

I've got Pi memorised more precisely than 355/113 as well for no good reason, and for engineering applications it doesn't serve any purpose. But the fraction is weirdly close and that's interesting for other (more academ

If interested then search on github for "voxel" rendering engines. There are plenty of repos, including some with good clean code that are great for learning the techniques used (s-macke/VoxelSpace for example).

Interesting other take I've seen: The continued fraction of Pi is [3; 7, 15, 1, 292, ...] The 292 is a pretty big number, so at that point the fractional approximation is very good. 355/113 is good enough for anything you're

There is a history command, with a way to reload, so this would be possible by writing to bash_history from bashrc, then reloading the history I think. Not tested. This is a short guide that is an eye opener as to just how much can be done

My OnePlus (not sure how widespread the feature is on android) has a Zen Mode, once started you can't use the phone for most things until the timer elapses. A bit different, but good if you want a break.

Now if we arranged them on a 2d grid, could use 4 cards, then the different shapes (even discounting the similar looking shapes) would get you to >1000. You'd have to allow more than just the standard tetrominoes.

The answer is: It reduces to a question of permutations. 7! > 999, so we could do it with different arrangements of just 7 cards. Can we do better? Good question...

For those interested in reading further, the ideal (unloaded) shape of an arch isn't a semicircle, but a catenary. It sounds so simple: so hangs the chain, stands the arch. Took until Hooke in the 17th century before that was written d

I make distinction between dimensionless and unit-less. Radians are a unit, but are dimensionless. You'll end up in a world of trouble if you got rad/s and rpm mixed up.

They serve the same purpose (optimisation). The advantage of ML is that you don't need to be able to define an objective function instead you just have a data set.
