It was fantastic for finding rare music. Lots of music that I can't find nowadays anywhere - paid or otherwise. And I loved being able to control my home client from work through a web interface.

What I meant was that it takes a certain skill to translate a business problem into something a computer can understand. You need to think extremely logical, rigorous. You have to consider everything that may go wrong. That takes natural ap

What a terrible article. We "hunch over keyboards, pecking out individual lines of code in esoteric programming languages"? What a cliche! Also, some of us use Ruby or Python. And we don't talk to users? When there's so much research on int

What interests me is the cause of freeconomics. People easily pay lots of money on all kinds of stuff, but are extremely hesitant to buy anything on the web. My gmail account is worth at least hundreds of dollars to me, but I pay nothing fo

As performance increases we'll to have worry about it less and we'll get the luxury of choosing more powerful abstractions. This makes us more productive (e.g. garbage collection - static typing too is partly compiler optimization). Regardl

Good point. My problem is that I find it hard to delegate (or am too stingy to spend money on services). So I've wasted endless hours on fiddling with CSS. Since I'm a very good programmer but a very bad designer, that was probably not effi

Thanks for this fascinating article! But my problem is not one of motivation, but one of knowledge. i.e.: I have no idea what the most efficient use of my time is. I just do what I feel like doing, not (necessarily) what gives the best R.O.
