And that's why this move is a smart one : Yuri has effectively outsourced all the valuation work for the investments onto really smart people that he doesn't have to pay anything for. While that doesn't seem particularly fair to the rest of

IMHO not the best example : If they can sell today and buy it back lower tomorrow, then that's pretty smart. They own the same thing, but have $$ left over.

IANAL, but: Banking law isn't relevant here : This is to do with offerings of securities. The SEC regulates offerings in the US. Goldman is no longer offering these securities in the US, so the SEC is not involved. As someone else points

Seconded : But they really don't emphasize the possibility in their main materials. The way I found to get on the program is to apply for the standard account, and then apply for the change to micropayments. In my case, they didn't tell me

Minimum wage for a year is approximately $10k. Ten thousand times that is $100MM. Hedge Fund salaries are not of that order - topping out at $10MM. I agree that Hedge Fund bonuses can be large, but as far as the fixed salary component go

That is an argument. However the article doesn't have that conclusion. It concludes: "I'm with Matt Yglesias, who writes that it's hasty to blame the nation's financiers for literally stealing from the middle class' wages. It seems much m

If you're having to rely on the ability to walk away from a commitment (to a supplier, say), then that needs to be built into the contract initially. In California (say), where the culture is 'built for failure', the contracts already embed

To me the right solution is to have an 'umbrella company' - that startups can live under. By law, they'd be divisions (so bankruptcy law would never get involved). But, internal to the umbrella company, there would be a culture of experim

If a positive is a hit on one of the seven words, then aren't you saying there are a lot more "f"-"uck"s than there should be (via "suck")? I would have thought the reverse : than there would be more "f"-"hit"s - i.e. false negatives.

I don't want to appear too critical, but you've just outlined the reasons not to persevere with the write-up. The point is that you are right in every respect : except for the part that doing the last 10% is only a modest amount of work. W
