I think that's still in line with what I mean. Letting the AI solve the problem doesn't work, but I've had several times that simply trying to explain the problem to the AI helped me solve it. Sometimes it's not an inter

I'd briefly come across Elk, but couldn't tell how it was better than what I was using. The examples I could find all showed far simpler graphs than what we had, and nothing that seemed to address the problems we had, but maybe I

I strongly prefer writing the code myself and letting AI review it, over the other way around.

This seems to confirm my feeling when using AI too much. It's easy to get started, but I can feel my brain engaging less with the problem than I'm used to. It can form a barrier to real understanding, and keeps me out of my flow.

Is this not something everybody wants to some degree? Maybe not to the extreme of Akaky, but of course I like being useful. I like solving problems. I like making things that people use, and love to use. It's not always healthy; at my

It's not asteroid extinction that's causing convergent evolution. All those crabs, anteaters and trees still exist. They're simply very effective forms.

At some point he had a mailinglist called Dogbert's New Ruling Class (DNRC) which would soon come to rule the world. In it he wrote lots of really weird, unhinged, occasionally funny stuff. At the time I thought it was all one massive

Scott Adams is a bit of a mystery to me. Like most here, I loved his comics in the 1990s and 2000s. I even joined the mailinglist for his werd rd and surely ironically intended Dogbert's New Ruling Class. Through Dilbert, he came acros

I've got a 4K Samsung Odyssey that I have come to hate because of it's extreme slowness and weird behaviour (I do not recommend this line), but I haven't had any problems with flickering with either M1s or M3s.

I would love linux on Apple hardware. Lots of people would, I suspect. I guess Apple has realized that their hardware is so good that they don't have to worry about the software anymore.

My MacBook is corporate, and it's therefore loaded with a ton of corporate auto-update, VPN and apparently questionnaire software. Stuff pops up at the most annoying times. And sometimes, indeed it takes focus away from the thing I

Maybe I do need to check out xfce, then. I use kfe, and I'm often frustrated by the ui freezing, and the mouse cursor slows down a lot. Sometimes the delay between clicking and something happening is seconds. I'm baffled at how mo

Using Opus 4.5, I have noticed that in long sessions about a complex topic, there often comes a point when Opus starts spouting utter gibberish. One or two questions earlier it was making total sense, and suddenly it seems to have forgotten

Security and approval is considered more important here. Just getting approval for neo4j on the clearest ever use case for it, took a year. I'm not going to spend my energy on getting approval for Claude Code.

I have no idea. Careless use, I guess. I was fixing a bunch of mocks in some once-great but now poorly maintained code, and I wasn't really feeling it so I just fed everything to Claude. Opus, unfortunately. I could easily have downgra

They do have a knack for missing the point. Even Opus 4.5 can laser focus on the wrong thing. It does take skill and experience to interpret them correctly and set them straight when they go wrong. Even so, for understanding what happens in

Out with the old, in with the new, doesn't have to be bad, but it depends on what your old and new are. I'd be a lot less skeptical about migrating OS-level sttuff from C to Rust than from C to React.

Why don't TVs support displayport? If HDMI 2.1 support is limited, a TV with displayport sounds like an obvious choice. I thought audio might be the reason, for as far as I can tell, displayport supports that too.
