Thomas Alexandre Dumas is a fascinating character, not only because he rose from slavery to a general of Napoleon, but he was also a spectacular, real swashbuckler known for daring action. I have no idea why there's still no big movie

Nice! Two days after I installed 5.3.0-beta because I needed a feature that 5.2 didn't have. Now I can undo all the custom install again to get it from the AUR. (I have not yet succeeded in using that feature effectively.)

So after two decades, the FCC finally does something about insecure routers by banning security updates unless you jump through a bunch of extra hoops. That's definitely going to improve the situation.

Not true. There's no need to shower after a short trip. Or even a 10km trip, if you don't exert yourself too much. But fortunately many offices do have showers. Also, bike locks exist. There are millions of people who find cycling

Accessibility is always important, regardless of what other options exist. I loved carrying my kids as babies, and rode them everywhere on my bike, but there will always be people for whom bikes, walking or cars aren't an option, which

No elevators to the metro? That's a problem independent from the cyclist's paradise. A city like Paris should have an accessible metro. Amsterdam has elevators at I think every single metro station (though our metro system is far

Get a rain coat, a warm coat, take it off, and make sure you've got a big crate on your bike. Wind does suck. I can't help you there.

It's not like they will suddenly stop working completely, but some do depend on US data, which could be cut off. No idea if they have a fall back solution for that, but I'm sure they're working on that.

What was hundreds of years ago? Several western countries still allowed slavery well into the second half of the 19th century.

It's not the FSF's job to provide Anthropic with a business model. If it turns out that their business model depends entirely on copyright violation, they might not have a business model. That's true regardless of whether you

Absolutely. The EU is now finally but rapidly adapting to these geopolitical changes. Defense budgets are now far higher than the 2% that used to be the goal that nobody met. In the 1990s everybody was eager to believe that war was finally

Much of their support has also come from the EU, and the EU has a lot more than that. The EU has more fighters and ships, more tanks, more soldiers. It is true that the EU didn't and still doesn't have deep ammo reserves, though.

Denmark cannot win militarily, but can the US? What war has the US won recently? They're great at destroying things, but not at winning. There's nothing for them to win in Greenland. It's an indefensible chunk of ice. They ca
