I can't get to the article (I've read my two free articles for the month, and I'm a cheapskate), but I have a question. One sort of hybrid system would be of a kind that imposed constraints on the solution that the neural sy

I wonder sometimes how tiny brains work. Take butterflies: they can flit among flowers on a bush or in a small area on the ground; how do they know how to move around so they fly to a nearby flower, then stop and insert their proboscis int

Grepping anything that has ANSI color codes would, I would think, be awful. Same for lots of other tools: sed, awk etc. So agreed, piped output should default to no color, and not just for the log file situation.

Along these lines: a script with over 700 symbols is definitely not an alphabetic script. Possibly syllabic, although most syllabic writing systems have fewer symbols than that. And of course, it may not be a script at all.

ML over historical languages is no different from ML over currently spoken (and written) languages, with one crucial exception: if the language is still in use, you can get a bigger corpus. About dictionary making: there are several program

Actually, you can get a readout on lexical semantics (the meaning of words) if you have a large enough corpus (much larger than we have for any extinct language). The method uses a vector space of word cooccurrence (look up word2vec). It

The first question is--if I understand what you're proposing--(relatively) easy. The second is much harder, perhaps impossible. The reason the first question is relatively easy is because of syntax (sentence order, but also the order

According to https://spaceflight101.com/spx/spacex-raptor/ , a Raptor engine consumes 194kg/sec of fuel (methane); adding the methane and the LOX (fuel + oxidizer) together, it comes to about 930 kg/sec.

In some versions of object oriented programming, some aspects of objects can be queried from the outside, some cannot--they are invisible states. For protons, they may come with a serial number, but we're not allowed to read it because

I guess that's why they invented slide rules. I could get within 3 significant digits on a slide rule (and compute the exponent in my head), whereas I guess the margin of this envelope is too small to contain the calculation.

Looking at the picture in the article, I'd say the proton wasn't too small, rather the ruler was too big.
