Honestly, like with most skills, practice. Build lots of interfaces and complex interactions and you will get better at it over time.

The answers to that are always going to be pretty personal. To me the small amount of time it takes is well worth it to have full insight into where money is coming and going.

I've been using Gnucash for tracking my personal finance for years and find it indispensable. I export CSVs of my transactions from my bank and import them into Gnucash. I spend about 20 minutes every couple of months to pull in the la

Love to see progress still happening on this gem. They also recently added hi-dpi support, which is a great achievement and keeps the game playable on modern systems.

Mapy.cz is great and my go-to app for outdoors mapping and tracking hikes and bike rides. It's worse than Google Maps for search and listing, but that's fine. I'd love if something could be done for open street maps to try an

If you combine their API with their web playback SDK, you don't need an official client running. That means my app is completely standalone whilst being built only using officially supported endpoints.

It's just a website as it depends on the web playback sdk. It could be wrapped into a desktop app with something like tauri easily enough, which is something I'm considering. Would always be available as a web app, though.

It's not just yet, but a quick look at my GitHub - https://github.com/tom-james-watson/ - should tell how that's likely to work out. The good thing is that the app is all client-side and so there's no ne

This is a big frustration of mine, too. The other is that Spotify is extremely biased towards playlist listening and makes browsing and listening to a library of albums really painful. The good news is that Spotify's SDK and API are ac

I also use random email aliases for my domain. The random username is because I don't want people to be able to search my username for a service and link me to other accounts online.

Seems pretty limited to be honest - the usernames aren't going to be unique enough for anything where they have to be globally unique. Unless you include numbers on the end that is, but that's just ugly. LastPass's username g

Right this second it reports that transferring 10,000 GBP would give you 12,000.71 EUR vs the 11,949.73 EUR you would get by using Wise, which is probably the best known competitor. Seems pretty good to me!

It seems like 80% of people I've heard talking about AoC are planning on doing it in Rust (including me!). It's definitely a great way to get up to speed with a language you're interested in learning.
