Painting with a big of a broad brush I think. A misquote getting corrected in less than a day and getting noticed by a news site which is frequented by the folks who would have seen the original misquote seems pretty good to me. IMHO I love

I don't know, but in the US don't a lot of states have stalking laws that would cover this kind of behavior. I see this site has info by state. Dunno if this kind of thing exists in Australia... http://www.haltabuse.org/resources/laws/inde

I think there are two very different sides to perl culture. About ten years ago I worked on a OO Perl project which was ~10k lines. It had coding standards, test suites, documentation, and was easy to maintain and bring new engineers into.

In Cambridge, MA the police have been enforcing traffic laws with bikers. Dunno what effect it has had, but enforcement, IMHO, as a place in getting bikers to obey the traffic laws. Drivers, on the whole, behave pretty badly too. As a drive

It went through a bad patch a few years ago. For more than a year now it has been rock solid for me.

Marco's show is still very young. Making it short or more focused wouldn't allow it to develop as quickly (the man needs more hours not less). I still very much enjoy the show and think Marco is more free than he used to be and more enjoyab

I think a long commute on public transport is very different than a long commute in the car. The first I could see doing when I was younger without a family. Driving a long commute though is, IMHO, a miserable way to spend your time and mon

The graph that would be more interesting is a graph of ad sales. Google and Facebook are both fighting for the same marketing budget dollars.

I'm not sure what is dishonest unless the product mis-represents itself. Crippleware was big in the shareware scene all through the late 80s and 90s and still works today. Perhaps Apple could allow a new category, but it is an honest model.

It really depends on the situation. If all you can negotiate with is HR; talk to them. Learn how to do soft touch negotiation and get the HR person on your side if you can. Just assuming is non-negotiable is a way to lose your freedom befor

I disagree that it marks someone who might be trouble. If you are respectful and explain yourself the negotiating employment terms can be a very positive, but stressful, experience. I agree it can be hard in the first job (I didn't do it th

I work in the Boston area. I said yes to my first job's non-compete. In each job after that (I'm on my third) I have said no. I've negotiated it as part of my employment. First job was a big company; second two have been with smaller firms.

On my iPad 2 I also have seen this behavior if you wail with ten fingers on the drums just 'button mashing' style it keeps going for several seconds after you stop as the iPad is catching up with the inputs. My six year old found this :)

I think there is plenty of bad programmers and bad managers. I don't think either profession is a lot better than the other. (I am a coder and manager)
