Our map changes 3-4 times per year for new stations / closures etc so supportability of something like absolute CSS locations would never fly. Fair play for giving this a go though, it's pretty darn accurate and super quick!.

Exactly. In our new beta site (yet to launch) Walking and Cycling are right up front alongside public transport so we're pushing more options to the user.

It's a Schematic not Geo map. The Tube map is not intended for walking.

Just a heads up, the schematic Tube map is updated every 3 or 4 months. A member of my team tried mapping the points manually with appropriate curves in Canvas, ultimately it was a bit of a nightmare without the original Illustrator SVG fi

This is great, I'll forward over to the guys working on the replacement to our current Flash version. The data you are using will be superceded soon with a new API with more rich information at a lot lower latency (don't worry we won't deco

We won't, this data is readily available on our data page. In fact our new API will have much more information available, with a lot lower latency.

We're just in the process of nailing down the venue, but aiming for the end of May / start of June (essentially once we've managed to do some more testing and integrate some new data sources). Without giving too much away (I'll get shot by

My team (TfL Online) has a hackathon coming up soon based on our new API, it would be good to hear how we can get that out there for the attendees to be aware of?. (I'm sure you are pretty jam packed on the schedule this time round though)

They may not 'think' about it as you refer, but will likely be using RSS in some form, or reading a link via reddit or some other interesting achievement. Have some bloody respect.

I was born in Cardiff but strangely never been to Swansea, currently consigned to the grey skies of London though!

Equally, if you think of extra time in a cup match then TV schedules for the rest of the evening are definitely effected. It happens a lot.

Congratulations, I've read your other posts and always impressed by your concise way of describing the processes you are undertaking. One thing troubles me though, why did you goto Swansea on your UK trip of all places!?

I spent over a year at two leading newspapers recently, launching both of their new sites. I would strongly disagree they don't know what their doing, in terms of commercial partnerships, cross promotional ideas and monetization of content

Your right, I was on public transport. Actually I went to hire a jeep but had forgot my drivers licence back in the UK, given your comments I'm probably lucky I didn't!

I usually work for 6-9 months contracting and then set about an area of the world to travel, this year I've done Australia and Central America. Come April next year my plan is to start off in NYC, travel the states for 6 weeks and then spe

I travel two hours each way to work to London, and likewise, I sit in the quiet carriage. I've been that person to stand up, walk over and have a quiet word, but all to often I'm met with hostility and shock that we should even dare to poli

I do very much the same as you alluded to here, the only difference being that I am in tech project management (cue a gasp!) so remote pm roles really don't appear that often so I tend to do 3-6months contracting then head off somewhere coo

I've just had all my boxes of photos digitised and synced to Dropbox and stored the originals at my mums. It was quite satisfying to know I don't need to worry about losing them.
