A Coke and a pickled egg isn't exactly healthy. The founder said in his first blog post about the subject that, prior to pursuing his Soylent idea, he was eating a lot of fast food and frozen burritos. Of course, if you're just lo

I think that's how most people do it, and the founder has implied in the past that it's kind of how he intends/expects it. The biggest criticism of Soylent seems to be "Who would ever want to give up food for all meals f

True, but I think even most who read things like Reddit don't necessarily follow the main stuff that's posted. Reddit's kind of a mixed bag of information, and people go there for all sorts of stuff. I know I generally skip o

Did you see the episode of John Oliver's show recently about the subject? Oliver went out and asked people about it, and the general response was "Who is Edward Snowden? Didn't he release some documents that compromised the s

It honestly sounds like you're not losing interest in programming, but rather, you're not doing a lot of what you enjoy at your job. 1) You can find a new, more interesting job. It sounds like you've searched around, but yo

How did you go about curating your feed? I tried to get into Twitter for a while and ultimately stopped using it. Part of the problem I think is I have kind of a wide range of interests -- sports, software, entrepreneurship, etc. So Twitter

Ghostery caused the same problem for me. Pausing it fixed the problem. Others have said ad blockers do the same for them.

I work for an overly-corporate company and we have those all-hands meetings 2-4 times a week.

While I would rather not work while on the beach, I can definitely see the value of being able to work while at the beach. What I mean is that, instead of having 2 weeks of vacation per year, having to schedule it, and when I get to the

Smaller companies are a bit different than big corporations, too, though. Usually, it's just one (or a small group) of individuals running the company, so it's not some "faceless entity" with no morals and only working t

Ok, I'll bite. Why illegal gambling? Wouldn't it be legal gambling, if anything, since it's condoned (and encouraged) by the government?

I emailed them with a question and that's the response I got. Too bad, there seems to be a need out there for an automated bank account payment API.

I don't see anything in the Wikipedia article that implies he was a borderline scam artist. Even the "controversies" section only really talks about the fact that he used steroids in the past and something about Amazon review

He actually has an article where he lays out how he went about saving before he retired, and he basically had $800k in liquid cash/investments before he retired. But I don't think he actually saved the full $800k; he probably ha

That's not always the case, though. I have a friend who works in public accounting who actually does work 80-hour weeks during busy season (i.e. just before taxes are due) and spends pretty much that whole time in the office from what

I think the real point is that "pop" music sucks and has always sucked, for the most part at least. A teen is more likely to listen to "what is popular" rather than "what I like best" to fit in, but once they g

Yeah. I'd bet that a huge portion of the people these articles refer also to live in places like Silicon Valley, where the price of ownership of things is very high, but services are abundant (because of the startup culture).

Oh, for sure. I didn't say "not owning things" was smart (although I guess it depends on what you're trying to own) and running up your monthly expenses on unnecessary services is probably not the best way to get ahead
