We should reconsider the entire notion of the limited liability entity. Everyone who profits from the tobacco industry should be potentially liable for their actions. I am amused every time I hear concerns about AI alignment and the threat

I also remember the term from 25 years ago. For newcomers to modern systems, it is a misleading term.

Would “factory reset” mean reverting to the version of the OS installed at the factory? That is no longer a viable option. “Erase all content and settings” is clumsier language but more accurate.

Is there a proper term or category for a monitor meant for high end installations that has no branding on it (e.g., as one would put into a display at a museum)? I refuse to buy something with a logo on the front of it.

Not just wealthy couples. Most parents want their children to be heterosexual and bear them grandchildren. Having successfully procreated, they are more likely to have natalist genes and inclinations.

I was in one of these programs in middle and high school (1985-1990). My experience was that only a very small subset were selected to be tested. Most of the "gifted" students were born to parents who knew how to advocate for them

It is not a zero-sum game. Some money spent on labor adds more jobs than others. For example, if I employ people building a road to nowhere, I have only employed the builders. If I build a road that is needed, more economic opportunities ar

I would imagine it is just because it would require more complexity in the kernel. One would need to create a queue of tasks to be performed during cleanup and have the path through the exit system call know to push work onto that queue. It

I went through the exact same scenario with my mother. I toy with the idea of spending my retirement tormenting tobacco corporation executives and shareholders. I welcome any ideas and assistance.

Also, some people don’t have an “inner voice”. I don’t hear words when I read them. Sometimes I miss puns if I don’t go back and sound them out.

And yet, some countries and cultures have safety nets that work. It is not surprising that the government functions like the people that elected it. If your community is comprised of assholes, you get cruel policies.

The simplest first thing that U.S. companies should do is implement E-Verify and require that all subcontractors do the same. This publication does not even mention E-Verify.
