And yet, here we are, with OAuth still a complex behemoth and everyone doing login with Facebook, Twitter, or a poorly-implemented homegrown login system.

I think it's inevitable that twitter will one say shut off all third-party access. I work on a service now that uses twitter, and I fully expect it to be removed soon.

Apple stopped the Kindle app from linking to the amazon bookstore. That's as close to war as you can get.

Above JSON: Sets, keywords, integer type, hashmaps in which the key doesn't have to be a string, extensible data types (most of which jacobolus points out as well)

Back when I used textmate a year or two ago, it would crash and hang frequently, especially when dealing with large files or folders.

If this were a Kickstarter, I'd buy the top package. This is something I've wanted for a long while. Good luck!

This has already happened. Someone should start something new, ideally a smaller, more focused crowd.

As an app developer myself, I never said that it was good review :-)

Yes, they have human reviewers launch the app and tap around a bit, in addition to automated code analysis.

In fairness, a more accurate analogy would be a poor football player criticizing better ones.

Even as a functional programmer, I'd be OK with separating out comment functionality into a separate file, class or not. This code seems fine to me.

I've hijacked a couple of components at Game Closure in Clojure, much to the chagrin of our CTO. (Just kidding, kinda.) For the places we've used it, Clojure has worked wonderfully. The only disadvantage is that few engineers know it, and f

It's been like this for a long time. It's by far the least transparent moderation in a community I've ever seen. For a long time I thought of HN as a generally smart, reasonable community (less so these days with the masses here) but the co

It's more about shipping good things than just shipping. Honing your craft helps you better distinguish good from bad.

What does PageRank have to do with HN articles? Also, people write whatever the hell they want on their own site. That's the point. They can't stop people from submitting links here, wanted or not. In theory, if enough people don't like it,

If you don't parse the metadata, it doesn't matter whether it's in JSON or in a comment. You lose the intended meaning either way.
